Ghost Train sounds & Ambiance

1. An old time steam engine with inside and outside ambiance. As I am looking to improve a ghost train project's audio, it would also be good to include a number of spooky sounds in the background, some of which are already in Echotopia.

2. My favorite ambiance to use during the running o my project can be found here on YouTube. It is a 3hr long mix but is closes to my desired vision to set the scene.

3. This should set a spooky vibe. I plan on using it during live mode as a virtual escape room. Perhaps potentially D&D style game one day. With each escape room or game I run, I would also like to share the ambiance as a mix on YouTube. This could sometimes be pared with any in-game music I use as well such as a record playing for example (in the case of the ghost train)
Some sounds could include things like:
- rattling chains
- wolves howling
- gusts of wind
- lanterns on the walls rattling as the train moves
- ghostly whispers and voices, screams, etc.
- the train's horn
- the approaching ghost train (old fashion steam engine)
- train starting up and beginning to move if possible.
- creaking of the rails or other noises from an old abandoned train station
- low droning note to create a sense of dread similar to that of the above video
- horses galloping
- ghostly yelling or even gun shots from a revolver / rifle (random echos of past events in the story)
- Music used in this project is generally bluegrass style and in some cases sounding as if being played with a record player. I plan on adding these as additional background noise as players navigate the train and solve its puzzles.

Hi Jericho_Dread!

Those are some nice ideas, probably this should be all released as one of our Ambience Kits. This theme is so common in the retro-horror scene that it's easy to design what it could contain. Also, you give a very good list of sounds here, so thank you for that too! Of course, all our libraries are included with Echotopia, so when this is released it will be included as a free update to current key version users at the time of release.

Some of the sounds you describe are already included and may fit your project:
  • Rattling chains - We got those in the Hauntings, Poltergeists, and EVP sound effects library.
  • Ghostly whispers and voices, screams, etc. - We got those in the Hauntings, Poltergeists, and EVP sound effects library, and some more in the Sound Effects/Miscellaneous library that comes only with Echotopia.
  • Ghostly yelling - We got those in the Hauntings, Poltergeists, and EVP sound effects library, and some more in the Sound Effects/Miscellaneous library that comes only with Echotopia.
  • Low droning note to create a sense of dread similar to that of the example video - Check the Cinematic Low-Frequency Effects sound effects library, lot's of low key drones there.
  • Lanterns on the walls rattling as the train moves - We don't have specifically lanterns on train walls, but there are many Foley of rattling things that might fit the design in some of our sound effect libraries and as isolated sounds in some of the ambience kits.
  • Gusts of wind - I'm sure we got those too, I don't remember exactly where.
By the way, sometime within the second quarter we are planning to release an update of Echotopia, featuring an enhanced search experience, so it will be much-much easier to find a sound while you're creating.
