Re: Haunted Dark Carnival
Hi Jericho_Dread! This is another great idea for a library, a Carnival. The thing is that we don't really have any carnivals in my country, at least not the kind of carnivals you can see in the United States and we all have enjoyed form the movies. But, it shouldn't be too hard to fake most of the m...

Re: Ghost Train sounds & Ambiance
Hi Jericho_Dread! Those are some nice ideas, probably this should be all released as one of our Ambience Kits . This theme is so common in the retro-horror scene that it's easy to design what it could contain. Also, you give a very good list of sounds here, so thank you for that too! Of course, all ...

Re: Multichannel/multi-zone outputs
Thanks for replying so fast, and thinking along! I really appreciate it :) Thank you too, this is valuable input. Usually the puzzles/games are controlled using microprocessors, like RPi's or Arduino's. These are all connected (over internet) with the main control pc, that also controls for instanc...

Re: Introduce yourself
For now I am using cheap PC speaker sets, but I am sure the exciters you mentioned will greatly improve the sound quality, and finish of the design! Thanks for the tip. Some of those also have an extra filter to compensate for different surface materials, like wood for example, enhancing the freque...

Re: Multichannel/multi-zone outputs
I can see the benefits of that. As you stated, multi-zone functionality means that Echotopia would have more than one Observers that could render in a way that each Observer could be transmitted to a different set of speakers. This is very useful in escape rooms or other installations that need more...

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi, my name is Dion, I'm from the Netherlands. And I hope to use Echotopia to create soundscapes for art installations (i.e. miniature-scale village). Also I want to explore the possibilities to use it for multi-zone escape rooms :) Hi Dion, Both are very interesting application fields. Regarding t...

Re: ADM: production workflows and known issues
I should add that Bruce Wiggins has an excellent JSFX UHJ decoder that can convert to planar quad speakers, and FOA ambix or fuma. Nice! And it's also based on the original recommendations from Gerzon. I have 3 albums that I mixed in UHJ Stereo just for the fun of it, I would like to listen to them...

List of Ambisonic Music/Audio Players
When it comes to media players, especially for exotic (for now) media formats, I believe that the more the merrier! With that philosophy in mind, let's try to keep a list of all available players of ambisonic audio files. Plush2 posted in a thread here: https://forum.soundfellas.com/viewtopic.php?p=...

Re: ADM: production workflows and known issues
The Blue Ripple Audio 3OA Decoders pack has an excellent UHJ Stereo decoder. We used those to produce the 5 albums that we have as a music label on Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon, and other streaming services.Flo Angerer wrote: ↑21 May 2022 12:34Anyway, do you know of any good software UHJ encoders/decoders?

Re: ADM: production workflows and known issues
Hector Centeno has made a player for Android that will play back UHJ (and other FOA B-format and AMBIX mixes) with phone tracking/panning available. It's called AmbiExplorer . This is good, we need as many players as possible on all platforms. A unified solution would work even better to promote tr...

Re: HOA (Higher Order Ambisonics) for the masses
I just came across someone publishing ambisonic (FOA, TOA and binaural) through extra downloads on bandcamp. That's cool. I was a music producer for many years when I was younger, alas, the Greek music industry is a black pit where decent people die like dogs. Some years ago I started a small music...

Re: HOA (Higher Order Ambisonics) for the masses
This seems somewhat feasible although a little disconnected form the end user experience. I had the worst weekend regarding workload. I’m gonna read everything here and on the chat tomorrow night when I get some time off. But until then, I wanted to say, how bad do we need an ambisonics player for ...

Re: ADM: production workflows and known issues
I finally managed to wade through all the excellent points and counterpoints you two have made. It seems we are all leaning toward HOA as a format. The best reason is because it reflects the reality of sound better than an object based model does. I totally agree with you on that. That's one of the...

HOA (Higher Order Ambisonics) for the masses
After many of our discussions here and in Discord, I think it's time this topic that emerges in almost all talks should have its own forum thread. How about HOA for massive consumption? @plush2 pointed out that at least for FOA (First Order Ambisonics) we actually have a medium to broadcast on a lar...

HOA Convolution Testing
I'm starting this thread as a way to gather collective knowledge for everyone that's using ambisonics in production. Music, games, radio dramas, immersive podcasts, NGA production, all those benefit from the use of ambisonics on secondary layers. Ambisonics is a great format for reverberation as eve...

Re: ADM: production workflows and known issues
The thoughts on the post above are my thoughts exactly. This is why I use a workflow based on HOA and I would inject object-based audio only if the project needs it. It not only allows for much more creative freedom but also simplifies the production of 3D audio enough to make it easy for us at Soun...

We currently have two major authoring toolkits to produce MPEG-H content. The EAR Production Suite (abbreviated EPS): https://ear-production-suite.ebu.io/ And the MPEG-H Authoring Suite (abbreviated: MAS): https://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/en/ff/amm/dl/software/mas.html Those two have their differences ...

Re: ADM: production workflows and known issues
Coming from the game development sector which is a sub-set of interactive audio practices in general, I think that we can find a lot of solutions if we look at how game audio middleware is handling any issues. Games have been in the frontier of interactive audio content that can be rendered in arbit...

The session is also organized into chapters so you can easily find the sections you are interested in.
